If you are thinking of buying it from a relative, to avoid family problems I would let the seller set the price, you may be pleasantly surprised. If it is too high you can always look for another 8N or a more capable tractor. Give the seller a chance to air up the tires to see if they hold air and a chance to get it started. If those are unsuccessful, a $500 offer for a non-running 8N would be about right if there is no sentimental value. Be prepared to walk away without buying it.
