This is not rocket surgery and people who do not understand are just unwilling to get it.
If you have a google device or Alexa in your home it is constantly listening to every conversation it can hear. Every uttered word.
Think about it - if it did not listen to everything how would it determine that you called Alexa's name or said "OK Google."
So in order to target advertising (and be able to charge higher ad rates for the service) it parses your every word spoken IN YOUR OWN HOME and processes the words for opportunities.
No tin hat involved, just involves some excellent algorithms.
I cannot understand why people willingly surrender their privacy.
