We are growing 50% more food on 20% less land then we were 60 years ago. In the last 30 years I have never seen a farmers standard of living go down. Every time I see the government handing out money to farmers, I see them using it for remodeling their house, new toys or buying luxury items and such. I have enough of my tax dollars going to the farmers so they can waste it. Not to mention the property tax break they get. Most of the farmers I see and speak of have no debt, so why are they getting free money. In a free market economy, if you cant make it with out government money, you should do something else. I have no problem supporting the farmers who need real help and struggle financially. I grew up on a dairy farm, I know how money can get tight.
