One time before pulling out onto the road after spreading a load I put the tailgate down but neglected to turn the PTO off. I couldn't see the flinger turning behind the tailgate. Well, after a little bit I noticed a car had come up behind me and every little bit it would swerve into the other lane and back. Then I saw that it was the town police cruiser and soon the blue lights came on. By this point we had transitioned from country road to my town's main street. As soon as I got out I saw that the spreader was running. The cop told me "You know I could give you a ticket for that! I answered "Yeah and what would be the point to that?" I promised to be more careful and we went on our separate ways.
