I bought a heavy old tow-behind Bush Hog (306 model?).
It's a little close to the tractor so you can't turn very short with it, even with the PTO off, because it catches a tire. The PTO chatters if you get very far off straight with it.
The drawbar to PTO distance on the tractor is the standard 14", but this mower is likely from before that standard, and I think it could stand a longer drawbar. Any guidance on how much drawbar I might be able to add?
Dad told a story about one of their tractors, a Farmall 400 I think, which had an unusually long drawbar. They had a manure spreader with a long PTO shaft like this one, which would chatter HORRIBLY on any tractor except the 400 with the long drawbar. Unfortunately he is no longer around to ask.
