The inside patches used today are usually a combination plug-patch , a patch with a sort of pug attached that gets pushed through from the inside. There are inside patches for radial tires but I do not believe they are a recommended repair for tubeless radial tires so most shops either do the plug-patch or the regular plug. The plug patch is a better repair but I have plugged many tires with the regular plug and if done right they can be a good long lasting repair too.
