I rewired my JD 2520 this past spring. I put in a new little old fashioned round automotive flasher unit from the auto supply store. It works fine with one old style lamp. I noticed the terminals were marked in and out. I don't remember seeing that. The flasher in my AC 175 was sporadic, so I replaced that too, with the same part. This tractor has two OEM style lamps, as I assume your 2440 does, and the flasher works fine with them also.
