The 7.3 gasser will run circles around the old 7.3 power stroke. Its a bigger truck, heavier truck, more capable truck. people wonder why newer vehicles don't get better mileage, but they forget that they produce more power (a lot in some circumstances), get more work done with more weight, options, refinements, more safety features, better frames, axles, brakes etc.... Don't get me wrong, I like the older stuff too. I have a 98 QC 12V Cummins, and love it, not the most powerful rig but great power, economy and impeccable reliability, it can't be duplicated or replaced.
