I must have the best of both worlds. Live2 miles North of Des Moines and Three miles South of Ankeny in an unincorporated part of the County. State Highway Commission has their Marquisville Garage 1/2 mile East so my road gets plowed several times a day. New asphalt surface every ten years-County paid. On City Water and Gas. No sewer system but once every 10 years pump the septic tank. NAPA, Car Quest and O'Reilley's warehouses are ALL within 5 miles. Right now, gasoline is $2.79 for regular. The BIG drawback is property taxes. Mine have doubled in the last decade. Tough on a fixed income. 5 acres on pavement, so it is what it is.
