I was raised on a farm. Dad always had a cotton crop and of course he needed help with it. This was in the early 1960s before the use of chemicals and motorized pickers were popular here in the south. I hated walking the rows with a goose neck hoe chopping the weeds and grass out of the cotton plants. A hot nasty job it was. Then we got to pick the cotton or pull the bolls by hand. I started dragging a six foot sack when i was only around six years old.By the time i was eleven or twelve i was using an eleven foot sack. Man i hated the cotton field. Then as a young adult i went to work for a farmer picking cotton with a 616 International cotton picker. I found that i still hated picking cotton. I have done almost everything else there is to do on a farm and liked most of it. But anything to do with cotton i disliked.
