I guess I'm pretty lucky. I use an independent auto parts store that still has the huge rows of parts books right out in plain sight. The kids there get that deer in the headlights look sometimes when I go in and ask for tractor parts, but they're getting better at it. Our local NAPA's store owner will still measure a bearing or cross to find one that fits, but he's the only one that seems to know how to do that. Plus, most of the staff there are miserable. So I don't do much there.
We have an Advance Auto about 25 miles away. Useless if you need parts more for anything more than 10 years old. The big NAPA in that town is good, but there's never anyone there on the counter it seems. Waiting 1/2 an hour for service is ridiculous.
All auto parts stores seem to make a habit of answering the phone while in the middle of making a sale to me! Burns my toast every time!
