At some point tractor/trailers were getting $3 a loaded mile. There was a thread on it a while back. Without a back haul they may get that for a round trip.
Figure you miles per gallon loaded with a trailer. 140 mile trip divided by 8 mpg is about 18 gallons times 3.50 a gallon is 63 bux. Thats about a buck a mile plus add for wear and tear and your time. If he had to hire a truck I doubt he could find one for under 3 bux a mile and everyone is busy anyway. If you only get 5 mpg then you are up to 98 bux. Add about 4 hours or more of your time and loading it up, then 3 bux a mile isn't unreasonable.
