For the people that say the 1/4-28 is older and more used The McCormick Hay rakes starting in the 20s had drive in fittings, then starting in 39 they had a combination of the drive in fitting and the 1/8 pipe thread. They did not use a 1/4-28 ever on old style rakes that they stoped making in 1950. John Deere omly used the 1/8 pipe thread on rakes fron the Dain up to end of the old style rakes. New Idea used all the 1/8 pipe thread untill just after WW2 when they droped the 3 bar rake and went to the 4 bar and then they only used the 1/4-28 on the bar fittings with the 1/8 being used every ware else. The only place I ever found the 1/4 pipe thread used was on a very first style Massey Harris tractor disk. Massey never used the 1/4-28 fittings on theit takes, only used 1/8 pipe and the drive in.
