My son came out to start my Onan 18 hsp. twin one morning to mow grass. I was standing beside it when it started and sounded like the world coming to an end, knocking, missing, smoking. I was the one to shut it off the day before and there was no problem so figured maybe a chunk of carbon came loose. I sprayed carb. cleaner down the carb. with it running, then give it a big shot to flood/kill the motor then let it set a couple hours to soak. It started with the same hammering then the carbon hit the muffler and no problem since. Tractor has almost 2000 hrs.. on it now.
