Our outside dog is really skunk stupid. At least once a month he will tangle with one. Since he is outdoors and doesn't ride in anything, we just let him stew in his juices. A couple of days and the smell is gone. Don't know for sure why he can't learn to leave them alone. Maybe he mistakes a skunk for a cat, which we have several of, in the dark of night and attacks it. ???? I have live trapped many skunks because they get in the barn and make a mess of the feed sacks, etc. I usually relocate them 7-8 miles from the farm. Some say they will just come back. I drive around a section a couple of times in an attempt to confuse their GPS. Don't know if that helps or not. Don't particularly want to put a collar on them.
