After the old JD 494A plate planter [my first] the next was a used White air planter. It came with a PTO pump/reservoir. As I had a JD tractor with closed center hydraulics, I didn't use the PTO pump. I found that you couldn't just flip the remote control lever running the blower to off. The momentum of the blower didn't want to stop immediately! Fortunately for me, there was an oil cooler mounted over the blower intake. This oil cooler was hooked into the return [low pressure side] of the system with slip on hoses and hose clamps. A hose blowing off the cooler and dumping oil was like a safety valve. Lucky me! When it was time to update, I wanted a new White. But I would have had to travel two hours to get to a dealer. So, I settled for a JD vacuum. This has the extra, dedicated drain line running right to the tractor sump.
