Just called the ditch rider about 10 minutes ago to order water. I was going to pre-irrigate a field. He told me he just didnt have the water.try Wednesday. wow.Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to ever hear that. :( The Uncompahgre Valley Water Users Assn. is one of the best systems in the state.we use water from the BlueMesa and ridgeway reservoirs, and several other smaller lakes. We draw snowmelt from the continental divide above Gunnison and CrestedButte. And From the north face of the SanJuans above Montrose. He toldme that this may be the year to just keep evrything alive. We were starting out at 60% of normal. I figured i would set aside some fields. Only plant a little over half. Now I wonder if I should anything at all.The ramifications of this are huge.Everyone here will be in the same spot. that means little to no work,Little to no hay, what there is will be shy high. So people will be dumping livestock because of no feed. Some folks will be forced to sell out. So machinery prices will tank,as no one will have any money as we will all be in the same boat. It's gonna get ugly.I am very concerned.
