I had my first hayride in the 8th grade. My dad pulled 2 wagons with 24 grain sides behind our Farmall H. I did the same for my kids in Junior High and we have done them since. My kids are now in their 50's. My son and I built (and he now has) one 16'long bed on a light running gear with 36 high stock type sides and end gates. Both sides are hinged to be able to fold down to make a stage for a bandstand. (My grandsons play in a band) The rear steps fold up so no one can ride on them. We only used bales of straw for seating. It has side marker lights and tail lights for night hay rides. How you power them is up to you. We did not make provision for any type of roof but have discussed it. Your need as a transport from a parking lot to the show gate should consider having many seniors and rambunctious kids. Be safe. Today's Featured Article - Show Coverage: Argyle and Mt. Pleasant Labor Day Weekend Shows - by Cindy Ladage. The last fling before summer fades into fall and we get busy in the fields are the annual Labor Day tractor shows. Beginning on September 5th and running through the 7th, the Argyle Antique Gas and Engine Show is held at the Argyle State Park. Located in West Central Illinois, the pine forest was the setting for the opening of the 22nd show.
