Doug, if there's any metal to metal beveled/flange fitting or any o ring type of seal I don't like to use anything.
HOWEVER if you're talking leaks past threads (such as pipe fittings up into a gas tank) or on other surfaces (with or without a gasket) you might want to look at a few products I listed below.
As far as sediment bowls where the bowl mounts, I have used fuel resistant sealer coatings and at times I simply coated them with grease which helped.
Gas or Fuel Resistant are key words to look for in a sealant !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
