I have to believe the government giving money to the farmers is about the LEAST wasteful way they could spend money.
Do you see any farmers sitting in their houses letting their fields grow up to weeds and brush as a result of this money? NO! They're still out there working hard every day overproducing whatever it is they grow. They are taking that money and putting it right back into the business.
Anybody notice that the costs of inputs have gone up? Probably not yet but you will soon enough. Machinery, fuel, seed, fertilizer, chemicals... it's all going to cost more this year. So those high grain prices are not all money in farmers' pockets either.
