At a time in history when the pan seat was prevalent, It was what it was. I am not a fan of the pan seat myself, but to offset the discomfort, I added a folded a towel to get better comfort. I am no expert, but I know what worked for me. Spending more than 30.00 for a pan seat cover is a waste. Get a reasonable priced cover and re-pad it with additional padding to suit. For your information , I am 5ft 9 inches and 160 lbs. CM
