If a mag ignition tractor starts easy when pulled but NOT when cranked, the problem could among other things be:
The spring wind n trip impulse assembly isn't working at all
The spring is weak or broken
The lag angle isn't set properly and/or the initial start timing is out of spec.
For good crank starts the mags impulse should trip and fire RIGHT AT TDC, if too late harder to start if too soon it can kick back
If you slowly turn the engine over does the mag make a loud distinctive SNAP sound each 180 or 360 revolution ??? If its a faint dull clunk NOT a loud sharp SNAP the spring may be weak...
CHECK THE MAGS IMPULSE ASSEMBLY FOR PROPER OPERATION AND INSURE IT TRIPS/FIRES/SNAPS AT TDC
