I think newer variants are better in regards to accuracy, I bought one new, stainless steel, just a simmons scope and seemed ok on accuracy. Don't shoot it much, still like new, but at least legal in this state.
You might like another platform much better, say an AR, with a heavy target barrel, they are tack drivers. Have to make these NYS state safe act compliant here. Not too long of a drive to a place over in KY where they have 2 events annually for the machine gunners, awful lot of stock of heavy barrels and such. They do shoot nice, heavy as heck but....
