I have a all hydraulic loader, but when I move the ring I just drive into it and 'spear' it' The ring won't fall off no matter how poorly I 'speared' it. When setting it over the bale, I probably do tilt the spear but I doubt it is 100% necessary. I have sometimes picked up a ring with the loader bucket by catching the upper corner of the side of the loader bucket on the outside of the ring. The ring is then offset to the tractor. Even then I am surprised how well it works- I don't believe I ever dropped one that way either. Mark.
