We have a trackhoe at work that is always doing the exhaust regeneration thing and when it does it looks like it's blown a head gasket or something. It puts out heavy white smoke and smells horrible. The first time it did that I thought there was a major problem and it was under warranty so I called the service tech to come check it out and he said that's perfectly normal to do that.
