had a 1850 Oliver with a cracked one,, someone had tried to weld it like said just cracked again,, so I thought on it,, I took and started the tractor ran it at full throttle for about 5 min,, shut it off and of course had the alt un plugged to prevent frying it,, I had the crack vee'ed out and clean, welded it up with a stick welder, then started the engine again and ran at full throttle for anther few min,, let it idle for 5 min, zero cracking been that way for 25 years now still holding, I learned 40 plus years ago how to weld cast and keep it from breaking
