We had a 1950 Ford 4 door sedan that could be ordered with only the standard defroster, the standard heater, or the "Magic Aire" heater. My dad ordered ours with the Magic Aire heater which was a big improvement over the old Model A which had a heater that bolted onto the exhaust manifold and the radiator fan blew air through it which entered the cabin through a 2' hole in the firewall by the passenger's feet that had a little door to turn it on and off although it was still too hot in the summer so that meant unbolting the cast iron heater contraption from the top of the manifold. Were those "The Good Old Days"? That '52 Mercury was the cat's meow. Like a little Lincoln.
