What is the "hydro" you want to repurpose?
I have considered using a Sunstrand from a Deere 317 or Cub Cadet to run a drill press.
The input/pump shaft and the output/motor shaft are very similar and the input shaft is a lot longer.
My idea was to use an input shaft in the motor side making it easier to install a bearing and a typical oil seal.
