I don't know how real farmers can plan. We have a little 10 acre farmette. I bale about five little 2 to 4 acre fields in the neighborhood. Baler twine at Farm & Fleet or Tractor Supply seems to be seasonal. Good luck finding it by mid-summer. Hydraulic/trasnsmission oil is better. Very limited selection of tines for an old rake etc.
For me it is just a hobby and to help out a few neighbors with a couple old horses.
