Schpeck in loose translation is fat, grissle, or pre rendered lard. Most commonly used referring to �bachen� or bacon. I�m not and expert in German, but I heard the term plenty as a kid when things went in coded form. Schpeck is referenced frequently in various ways in German cooking. Technically it�s a German word, but Dutch being a Germanic language and Holland being a western neighbor there is likely a shared term. I have two great Grandpas. One German. One Dutch. They grew up about 100 miles from each other in their respected father lands.
