Using a curtain side trailer it would keep most if not all the salt and road grime off during the trip. Will cost a we bit more since it is a more expensive trailer. Could also spray it down with WD-40 or some other product like that to protect it for the trip. If it has the short axles so it is not over the 102 width I would just have the curtainside do it. Lots of them around so should not be to hard to get one. Whatever you do,don't tarp it. The paint will be worn off every place the tarp rubs. Besides if you're filing a farm income tax the freight is deductible.
