In 1978 after our blizzard- snow, then warm and rain, which then turned back to snow followed by a BIG temperature drop- I drove thru Newport ,Ky., and saw a whole streets with parked cars that were solid blocks of ice, maybe 6-8" thick. Those cars were froze like that for at least a week or two- no way you could have unthawed them. It was a sight I hope never to repeat. I drove home from my regular job in the blizzard that night in my jeep with a snow plow on. Ice built up so thick on my plow, and the interstate was so rough with frozen potholes of snow and ice, I was afraid my front end was going to break. Two days later I drove back to work and parked in the wash bay. I turned a hose on the snow plow and 4hrs later I was able to beat all that ice off of the plow with a sledge hammer. I drove home and unhooked it for a few days because everything was still too frozen to plow. Mark.
