I've been (casually) looking for a fairly small, personal-use saw mill for some 40 A of wooded off-grid property I have in Virginia Hill & Valley country. Mostly I've been evaluating Alaskan-type mills, but occasionally I see a blade-type mill listed at a reasonable price. Recently I saw an item on the local Craigslist that claimed to be a Shaw Du-All saw mill at a quite low asking price. That is plausible, I did some web searching and found that Shaw manufactured Du-All Tractors in 2 and 4 wheel formats, with a bevy of attachments during the first half of the 20th century. What puzzles me is the ad claiming that the saw mill has a motor that spins, but doesn't start, implying that the mill has its own power. All of the powered Du-All attachments I found in my searches appeared to use the tractor PTO, which is what I would expect. The photos in the ad were unfortunately pretty crummy, and didn't show much at all about the item that I would consider important. Anyone here familiar enough with Shaw's offerings to speculate on what this might really be? Thanks!
