Another concept to check for: is that piece with the holes threaded into the main diff case and the holes are where some sort of tool bolts and is used to turn piece in or out. Most differentials have some sort of method to move the ring gear carrier into and away for the pinion so as to set the tooth contact pattern and still have preload on the carrier bearings. If you are unfamiliar with all involved with setting up a ring and pinion gear set, find some shop manuals, like for cars with separate rear axle assemblies, and get an idea of what is involved in this operation. It is not just put the gears in and all is ok. I will check back in case you have ???
