I don't think High Tack is intended as a thread sealant. As for Teflon tape, it's worth noting that the FAA doesn't allow its use on aircraft due to the risk of a bit of tape plugging an orifice somewhere.
I generally use one of the pipe dope products that have Teflon in them, and I've had good luck with those. If I have a particularly troublesome pipe thread, such as certain made-in-China fittings, I'll use Teflon tape plus pipe dope.
