i recently purchased an aftermarket steering shaft for a 48' 8n. (8n3575a)when i instaled it i noticed i could not get clearence on the original steering gear. after a closer exam i discovered the gear on the rack is cut .020 over at the peak of the gear. this changes the pitch of the gear preventing it to seat properly in the steering gear. (rides high.) the excentric on the gear shaft housing doesn't have enough travel to clear the rack, so it binds. just wonder if anybody else had a similar experience and if you are buying one beware. i returned the shaft with out a poblem but still had to pay shipping for something that was not my fault. this erks me but what are you gonna do?
