Posterior requires a lot more therapy and healing time. Both of Marilyns hips were done posterior. This doctor does both anterior and posterior surgeries but for some reason he did not want to do hers anterior. If I got it right posterior does afford the doctor more working room so he must have figured he needed more room for her surgery. She could not bend over for four months and she went to plenty of therapy sessions. I got very good at putting on her ted hose, socks and shoes but it did not bother me one bit to be there for her. The rest of my life had to stop for awhile.
Her brother had it done anterior and he was pretty active after a couple of weeks with no physical therapy though he wasnt running any races for awhile later.
