If the tube on the upper dip stick fits the block, why not use that dipstick. Looks like you have plenty to go longer on that loop.
Drain and fill the engine with the right amount of oil first, one of two quarts low then you can mark the stick. Then add the rest of the oil, and mark the normal full level. There used to be universal stick you can modify for any application.
The dipsticks were available for diesel engines on class 8 trucks. You may have to go-to a truck parts house to get one, if the loop on your stick is not long enough,
