Thank you for your responses again. I googled banjo fitting so I know what that is now.My system is a hydro static power steering system that has all hard steel lines that I have never taken off only loosen to try to bleed air out.The shaft broke at the spline which actually goes through the radiator and into a collar which is attached to a worm gear which connects to the hydro static pump the shaft does not connect to the cylinder The main pump drives off the motor and powers the hydro static pump which I guess is the power assist. It sends fluid through a valve to the cylinder. I hope thats not to confusing. When the shaft broke it left enough spline to still connect to the collar. I took it to a machine shop where they broke the shaft up closer to the steering wheel and put another sleeve on it and some keys to give me enough length again. To reiterate I had no issues with the power steering before the broken shaft, but none since replacing the shaft.
