AFAIK, the stud should have been there from the factory. Most I've ever dealt with have a stud in that location, and that is what the parts catalog lists.[/quote:5dfc804163]
My 2140 has that stud in place for the hard to reach side of the starter and I believe it is original equipment. I think I am going to have to follow the same idea as my strter is still not working as it should. Needed the battery booster and a shot of ether even a few days ago when the temp was around the freezing point. I know the old 730 Case and Super 90 Massey would have started without that much trouble.
