We have burn permits here too, mine is good for a year, but I have to call it in. I called the sheriff dispatch, told them what happened and asked them to activate my permit, no issues. We have a really good sheriff department here, they encourage you to let them know when gone and they will put your property on a watch. Not bad for a county with 200K people.
