It’s interesting that a 26 hp D-10 would have front weight. No disrespect intended. Not to long ago there was discussion about fluid v. weights and someone commented that there is data on the tire reaction and traction in relation to the ground with fluid ballasted tires v. mounted weight. As for the front weight in the tire versus mounted on the frame it reminds of our dirt racing days when we would stuff the rims with “Nerf” foam to prevent clay build up. The rule was that unsuspended weight is bad weight in a race car. Granted, a tractor would be exactly opposite of this theory, but it was likely an attempted selling point in it’s time. The fact that the rims and tires are weighted could be argued to create less stress and wear on the drive train.
