In our little part of mid western Ontario, there is a lot of corn still standing....mine included. It looked close two weeks ago, so I tried a bit....34 percent. Tried so a day or so ago....33 percent. The husks are still tight to the ear and really restricting the drying. 20 miles from here in nearly every direction, most of the corn is off and was much drier than mine. I think you could still make silage with this corn since the stalk still has some green in it as well. We have yet to have a killing frost, but the plants are physiologically mature and should be drying faster than they are. It's an exercise in frustration waiting for it to dry down as the calendar rolls on....
