We never bought milk, it came from the barn. When the little bottling plant in town closed, my dad bought a whole bunch of the cylinders about 4 foot long , full of cardboard bottle caps from the dairy. My mother would pour the milk or cream that came from our barn into the glass bottles, and had a supply of brand new cardboard caps to use on hand for our home.
