Managed to get stuck last night delivering a container. They had put down some new sand and gravel over some wet ground, it looked good and felt hard, but once the load for on it it wasn't as firm as it looked. Then with one container off and the other back to drop, when I tried to relocate the trailer sunk.
Usually I can use the hydraulic trailer axles to push me out of a jam like this, but in this case with the tractor turned and all the weight in back, it just pushed me sideways.
You can see in the last pic the drive wheel tracks where it pushed them sideways all the way from the trailer gooseneck to where they are now. I kept hoping they would grab the sod or pile up dirt and push forward, but no luck. Even managed to work the container off hoping that would change the balance enough to make the difference, but also no luck there.
Luckily I was only 3 miles from my house, so it was Case 830 to the rescue.
This one is a case-o-matic drive which for this kind of pulling really maximizes the pulling power. I do have a bigger 1030, but in this case I'm sure the 830 will put more pull on the chain than any dry clutch of similar size since you can ease up on the torque without spinning the tires. It needed all it could get too, but I did get it out, with the homeowners help driving the truck.
Did manage to damage something in the trailer brakes during this so this morning I'm waiting on a mechanic to get here and fix it. But any day you can drive a case is a good day!
