I asked Dad years ago if he had any advice about putting tire chain on my FARMALL. He looked straight at me and said, "Yeah, DON'T TAKE THEM OFF." I have learned a few secrets on my own. At first, each chain toom close to an hour. Last time I put them on I got both on in an hour. My tractor chains are made from several sets of semi-tractor chains, 3/8" thick chain, crossbars every other link of the side chains. It's all I can do to drag one chain across my shop floor. And pick them up and set them on a 13.6x38 tire? Maybe with a hoist! I tie them to the wheel thru one of the holes in the rear wheel, jack that wheel up and spin the wheel till chain is on top. I have a concrete drive that slopes uphill to the road. Without chains I can't even drive my loader tractors up to the road.
