If they are filled with a pump from another container they don't get air to deal with. I have been using both bulk and tube grease for decades with little air problems. Though I buy the tubes buy the case, and they are already on end and. I keep them that way. The bulk grease we use from a 15 gallon can with a pump been doing that for 45-50 years and never have air problems. You can not use cheap poor guns for bulk grease or you will have more behind the plunger than in front of it. We have had good experience with Lincoln guns for bulk grease. You have to flip the lip on the plunger so it faces the head to expand against the sides. For tube grease it has to be behind the plunger. That is why we use more than one gun.
