I've used re-capping tread on the front wheels of my steam engine. Worked well for several years, but eventually the washered bolts started tearing thru. Recap belting does not have any cords for reinforcing in it. It relies on the core of the tire for that strength, thus, bolt tear out strength is kinda low. Recommend finding something with cords in it.
