They are interesting machines to say the least... we pick with a 702 Uni with 2- row header and 726 husking bed. Today's problem was getting brittle stalks to feed in (drought damaged corn does funny things). The corn stover is so dry that it bunches up at the upper end of the snapping rolls. We're taking in a lot of trash, and the husks are too dry to pull off nicely. We should have been picking several days ago, but wanted to combine beans instead. We picked a crib full today, and will combine the rest of this field of corn.
Those New Idea pickers do very well in corn between 20% to 30% moisture. They'll shell bad at the header and husking bed in dry corn.
