I quit taking deposits, pay for it and take it with you. I don't run a lay away or storage program. If you commit to buy and we agree on a price I will hold it a day or two, i will not accept a deposit or partial payment. Bring me the money as we arranged, don't call me with an excuse. I have had people pay for stuff and then not move, stuff I wanted gone. He didn't answer my calls and when I had another guy haul it away he had a fit. I have dealt with great people who made the deal and came the next day with cash. One was concerned that I wouldn't take a down payment. You can usually tell decent people.
